Marjorie Pitz:    Public Art

Merwyn                                      Franklin Ave. at 25th St., Minneapolis, MN

The Merwyn, and Triangle Park from which it emerges, were designed by Marjorie Pitz as a neighborhood gateway project.  The Merwyn is a fantasy creature who protects the Seward neighborhood’s earth and waters.

Unifying art and landscape, the head and body rises and dips throughout the park, including hands, fins, and tail.  Sidewalks flow in sweeping curves to suggest the body’s location when underground.
